SKM MD’s SPEECH @ END OF YEAR 2018 STAKEHOLDERS FORUM AND SENSITIZATION OF UPGRADE AND SWAP AGENTS 27TH DECEMBER 2018

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF SKM SIM REGISTRATION; SUCCESS AND CHALLENGES IN JIGAWA, KANO AND KATSINA STATES

Sarari Klassique is a team of seasoned Media, Communication and motion picture Practitioners founded in year 2003.
We became an approved MTN Simreg agency in March 2013 with our presence and responsibility in 6 states of Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi.
In early 2017, our responsibility was confined to 3 states of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa due to the policy change of our client and introduction of new NCC rules.
SUCCESS:
Currently, we offered employment to 1626 active teaming youths as SROs. We have 20 FOOs, 3 supervisors, 3 IT personnel, 2 compliance staff and 4 managers that head various units.

We immensely contribute towards strengthening National security by collaborating with security agencies in curtailing menace of dirty registration and spread of pre-registered sims. A number of successful operations were conducted and various hideouts of dirty registration cartel in the region were uncovered.
SKM is the first agency in Nigeria to arrest fraudulent agents, dragged them to court and successfully got them prosecuted.
We are number one contributor to MTN market share as we contribute about 11% of MTN acquisition. In 2018 alone, we brought on board 1,601,691 genuine subscribers to MTN network.
We produce video and radio campaigns creating public awareness on the dangers involved in producing, selling and buying pre-registered sims. Her is one of such…
CHALLENGES:
Lack public campaigns on dangers associated with pre-registered sims by Telecoms companies and NCC.
Reluctance of the regulatory body to clampdown on vendors of pre-registered sims in our major markets such as Bata and whole lot of rural markets (especially border markets in Katsina and Jigawa states).
Operational cost of arresting fraud agents, retrieval of devices and follow up with court procedures.
Unavailability of products and services of telecoms in rural areas – this gives rise to proliferation of pre-registered sims. Notwithstanding, MTNN is putting a great effort towards solving this problem by selecting the best SROs across the entire ecosystem to serve as sim upgrade and swap agents. We are inducting the successful ones today.
RECOMMENDATIONS;
NCC, MTN, Security agency and Sim registration agencies should constitute a taskforce that will be patrolling various markets and outlets based on intelligent report from Field officers and mystery shoppers.
We recommend monthly roundtable meeting of the above mentioned stakeholders.
Lastly, we would like to use this opportunity to reiterate our commitment to fraud free registration, to the NCC rules, to the terms of our contract with MTNN, to the rule of law and security of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
We thank MTNN for availing us the opportunity to serve our great nation in a fashionable way.
